More than $1 million has been stolen from ATM machines in the US in recent days, “forcing them to spit out bills like slot machines dispensing a jackpot,” Reuters reports. The act was carried out by “a coordinated group of hackers likely tied to international criminal syndicates.” It’s the first incident of “jackpotting” in the US, although similar campaigns have taken part in Europe and Latin America. Jackpotting has been on the rise over the past few years.
